Her Own World

I often see this woman along the streets and in the church. It is a common knowledge that she has a psychiatric illness. But she seems to be harmless. She avoids strangers and not sociable. She lives through the mercy of other people (I dont know much if she has some relatives in the vicinity).
I envy the peace she has in her mind, the simple living for which she doesn't race against time and deadlines.

Update (June 30, 2012): I got a very interesting news about this woman. Her name is Esperanza, I already heard about her story some time ago but I have no idea that this woman I often see roaming around the streets of Virac is her.  Someone has also wrote a touching poem about her. Her story served as an inspiration to those who know her. She was re-united with his son in April 18, 2012, whom she didn't see in 29 years. Her son was just four (4) years old when they lived apart.

I only know a little about her life. In the past, it was told that she worked as a household help and hospital attendant in London (UK) for many years, where she also met the father of her son. She went home with her 4 year old son in the 80's. I heard she lost her mind upon discovering that her hard-earned money while working overseas had wantonly spent by some relatives whom she had entrusted. She thought she already has a house built out of her earnings, only to find out there was none.

From 1984 to 2011, Esperanza roamed in the streets, lived in church bell fries, town squares, by the sea fronts. She has had short-lived menial jobs in parish convents in exchange for food and accommodation.

Her story can be read through this link:http://mnnetherlands.com/dir/_page/101883/ .

Busy rural street

Life in the streets, market places and other public venues recently became one of the subjects that I want to capture, apart from the usual images/photos that I post to My Flickr site. This first photo is just introductory. My coming posts will be more descriptive. I am still learning how to manage my posts in this blog, there would be gradual improvement as I become more acquainted in here. The busy nature of my work may also affect the frequency of my postings, but I will make it regularly as I possibly could. Thanks.
